Labour Day Parade Community-Led Events

8:00 AM| 1086 Modeland Rd

The parade will begin at 8:00am until 11:00am. Closures will take place on Christina Street, from Wellington Street to Exmouth Street, and Wellington Street from Vidal Street to Christina Street, starting at 6:30am.

Block Party 2023 Community-Led Events

6:00 PM| 430 Front St. North, Sarnia, ON. Suncor Agora stage Centennial Park

The Block Party is an all ages annual concert series coordinated by Bluewater Health Foundation. It has grown from an intimate 500 guest event on a Friday evening in 2016 to a two day festival. This year's Block Party is proudly supported by the Carpenters Local 1256. The event will feature a capacity of 2,500 guests per night, local craft beer and other refreshments, food and artisans from across Lambton County.

The 2023 Block Party will support Mental Health & Addictions at Bluewater Health. Locally, these services are much needed by both our adult and child/adolescent population, as we continue to see an increase in mental health and addictions related issues and diagnoses in our community. Over the last seven years, the Block Party has successfully raised over $160,000 in support of these services at Bluewater Health.

This year's Block Party will feature Grace 2, Jagged, Pearl Jamming and local act Townhall Revival on Friday night, followed by July Talk, the Beaches and local act Bad Men Association on Saturday night.

Gates for the all-ages, licensed event open at 6:00 p.m.

Smoke-Free Outdoor Movie Night City Signature Events

4:30 PM| Centennial Park, 430 Front St N, Sarnia, ON

Held in conjunction with Lambton Public Health, the City of Sarnia is happy to host the Smoke Free Outdoor Movie Night at Centennial Park, featuring a night of food, activities, and a showing of a popular children's movie. Activities start at 4:30p.m. and the movie begins after dusk.

Ferry Dock Hill revitalization public meeting Community Information Sessions and Open Houses

6:00 PM| 255 Christina St. North

The City is preparing to introduce preliminary designs for the redevelopment of Ferry Dock Hill and a related linear waterfront park to the public for review and comment.

The redevelopment of Ferry Dock Hill, if approved via the annual budget process, will create a gateway linking the downtown with the waterfront, and represent the first major capital project under the Waterfront Master Plan.

Two initial concepts completed by BrookMcIlroy landscape architects will be presented to the public via a public meeting on Sept. 20, 2023 at City Hall. Doors will open at 6 p.m. before a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m., followed by the opportunity for questions and comments from the public.

Rayjon Trail and Ale 5/10 k RUN/WALK Community-Led Events

9:30 AM| Howard Watson Trail head on Michigan Rd (North side)

The live event will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023:

Walkers: 10:00 AM Runners: 10:30 AM

The race will head north on the Howard Watson Trail from Michigan Ave., dipping into Blackwell Trails.

This is a timed event! Chip timing bibs provided for LIVE event.

Kid under 14 years old? Kids 14 and under can do the 5K Walk or 5K Run for FREE. To register your kids(s), use promo code "KIDS2023".

The virtual run/walk can be completed anytime between September 1 - September 23, 2023. The official event route is on the Howard Watson Trail in Sarnia, but feel free to find or create an exciting route in your own neighbourhood.

Funds raised will help communities in Haiti and the Dominican Republic meet their goals in Education, Health Care & the Empowerment of Women. 

 

Race kit: PICKUP is Friday, September 22nd from 4-8PM at Refined Fool, 1326 London Rd. in Sarnia. For out-of-towners and anyone unable to make the pickup on Friday evening, you can pickup the morning of the race. However, please arrive by 9:30 so that we aren't causing congestion in the corrals. Registered runners/walkers will receive an email with instructions about pickup and everything else you need to know to participate. (Check your spam folder! Follow the event on Facebook to make sure you don't miss any updates).

T-Shirts: This year in lieu of shirts we have opted for awesome beer steins (for the first 125 registrants). We will have a limited # of Trail & Ale T-shirts available for purchase on-site on race day.

Kidney Walk 2023 Community-Led Events

Germain Park Seed Day City Signature Events

8:30 AM| 900 Germain St.

The opportunity for City residents to stop by Germain Park to harvest seeds from the garden for their own home floral displays will return on September 28, 2023.

Visitors can stop by the park gardens between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to gather seeds from the gardens, with a wide variety of annuals available including zinnias, marigolds and impatiens.

Horticulture staff will be on site throughout the day to answer any questions attendees may have including how to harvest and cultivate seeds.
